It was all pomp and fanfare at the Edgars’ Avondale branch this past Saturday. Eight lucky customers got their Christmas presents early at the Grand Draw of the thirteenth edition of the Edgars Fashion Extravaganza.

Since the launch of the Fashion Extravaganza on 9 October 2023, Edgars customers nationwide got a chance to win big simply by shopping at their favorite departmental store. Anyone who spent over USD20 in any one of the twenty five Edgars stores dotted around six of the country’s ten provinces automatically qualified for the Grand Draw. Those who were feeling extravagant (no pun intended) and spent over USD100 in stores would get an on-the spot prize. The competition closed on 11 November 2023.

All that was left was to reward the loyal customers who had made FE23 possible and participated in the competition. This culminated in Saturday’s festivities, emceed by media personality Chamvary. To add to the celebratory mood, there was live music and on-the-spot giveaways for those that managed to make it. There was an auditor on site to confirm whether all the entry forms from the six provinces made it for the Grand Draw.

Speaking at the Grand Draw, Edgars Group Marketing Manager Mrs Priscilla Nyawera reaffirmed Edgars’ promise of quality and exclusivity to their customers. She said, “We know everyone trusts the Edgars brand and they want quality, fashionability, exclusivity from Edgars. This season, we reaffirmed our promise to the market in terms of the clothing, footwear and cosmetics you want.”

She extended her gratitude to Zimbabweans for their continued support and assured customers that Edgars would maintain the high standards they have set for themselves. “Thank you Zimbabwe. We’re going to continue delivering on our promise to give you quality, fashionable merchandise in our stores,” she added.

The brands and companies that collaborated with Edgars to make this season’s Fashion Extravaganza extra special include Ster Kinekor, Simbisa Brands, National Foods, Olivine, and Liquid Telecom.

Ready for the taking: Four-plate gas stoves won by six lucky customers

Simbarashe Chamisa from Bulawayo was the biggest winner of the day, walking away with a whopping USD2,000. Jessie Banda took the second prize, with six customers going home with the consolation prize—a four-plate gas stove.

For the Fashion Extravaganza 2023, Edgars gave an opportunity to six designers to showcase their merchandise at selected stores, under the Local Designers Initiative. It was only right that some of these brands were present at the Grand Draw.

Speaking to Mcheno&More at the Grand Draw, Charmaine Nhema of Zuvva was delighted at the opportunity given to them by Edgars to showcase their sustainable, homegrown fashion to Zimbabwe. “This has been a great experience. Zuvva specialises in natural fabric sourced locally and this was such a chance for us to showcase what we can make from our motherland’s materials,” she beamed.

And the opportunity has paid off, judging from the market reception that Zuvva has been enjoying as a result of the partnership with Edgars. Nhema added, “The response has been so nice. We have people from different countries coming to Edgars and actually buying what Zuvva is making.”
