After a blistering return to the scene in 2023, the Zimbabwe Fashion Week continues with its resurgence as it gears up for the 2024 edition.

In addition to the Creative Accelerator Programme, the Trust has announced an exciting opportunity for emerging street fashion designers in Zimbabwe dubbed the re-FASHION Accelerator. The Accelerator is scheduled for September and will be facilitated in partnership with Entre Academy.

Another year, another platform for young creators — The Zimbabwe Fashion Week has introduced the re-FASHION Accelerator as part of its 2024 Edition.

The re-FASHION Accelerator is a groundbreaking six week program designed to empower young street fashion designers by combining entrepreneurship education with hands-on fashion expertise.

In spite of their unparalleled creativity, streetwear designers continue being overlooked in Zimbabwean contemporary fashion due to a multitude of reasons — chief among them being network and capital.

The Trust has realised this gap in the development of the fashion industry, and thus decided to back the raw talent that has emerged in the Zimbabwean streetwear scene.

Participants will earn valuable knowledge and insights from mentors during the six-week workshops, as they engage in intensive and interactive design and business training sessions that cover everything from concept development to marketing strategies.

They will also get a chance to expand their clientele base by selling at the B2C Showroom at Zimbabwe Fashion Week 2024.

As an icing on the cake, the participants will get a once in a lifetime opportunity to present their collection of ten looks on the runway at Zimbabwe Fashion Week 2024.

How to Apply

Apply for the re-FASHION Accelerator by July 31. Follow these simple steps to be considered for the Accelerator:

Speaking to Mcheno And More upon the announcement of the initiative, Marshall Mutsamwira, Director at the Zimbabwe Fashion Week Trust said;

“As Zimbabwe Fashion Week, we are excited to partner with Entre Academy in the launch the re-FASHION Accelerator that will give Zimbabwean street wear fashion designers the opportunity to receive assistance in cash and in kind to showcase their collections on Zimbabwe Fashion Week runways.

“Entre Academy will facilitate entrepreneurship workshops during this Accelerator. We envision this Accelerator to not only amplify our designers potential and our people’s sense of street style, but also support our industry in the process.”

Don’t miss out on this incredible opportunity to showcase your talent and take your place among the fashion elite. Apply now and be part of a movement that’s shaping the future of street fashion in Zimbabwe.
