1925 Glen Norah in collaboration with Abantu World are bringing together a multidisciplinary experience by Zimbabwean creatives based home and abroad to celebrate the 2025 Africa Day at National Gallery of Zimbabwe.

Set for Sunday 25 May, from 2 pm to 6 pm, the showcase wil feature presentations, a panel discussion and DJ set. At the centre of it all will be the power of collaboration.

“I strongly believe that when Zimbabweans—wherever we are in the world—work together, we create something truly powerful. Our shared contributions amplify each other, and events like this are a reminder of that synergy,” shared Valentine Eluwasi, the 1925 Glen Norah founder and event organiser.

“This was put together in just seven days, and I’m incredibly grateful to the artists and community who made it possible: Charisse and Tawanda from the diaspora; Sabina, Chipo, and Ulenni from home. My deepest thanks also go to the team at the National Gallery of Zimbabwe. I hope this celebration becomes a blueprint for how we continue to collaborate and contribute—together.”

The Africa Day showcase will feature renowned UK based house music DJ and Abantu World founder – Charisse C, gifted New York photographer – Sirui Ma, creative technologist – Chipo Mapondera, Creative Director of the Virgil Abloh founded agency Alaska Alaska – Tawanda Chiweshe and Zimbabwe’s urban culture innovator – Ulenni Okandlovu.

1925 Glen Norah presents Africa Day at National Gallery of Zimbabwe event lineup:

  • 2 pm – 1925 Glen Norah Campaign Presentation 2:30 pm – Panel Discussion: Fostering Collaboration Between Homegrown Talent & Diaspora
  • 3 pm – Installation: Futuristic Pagan Bridal Ceremony

Passionate about supporting Zimbabwean artists, Valentine Eluwasi, the creator of the fragrance company 1925 Glen Norah, began working with the National Gallery of Zimbabwe when he created a website for Zimbabwe’s pavilion at the Venice Biennale. This led to a sponsorship of the pavilion, and continued collaboration as 1925 Glen Norah is directly inspired by artistic and cultural contributions from Zimbabwe’s liberation era. The Africa Day celebration is a natural progression of that relationship.

“I happened to be in town, noticed a gap in the gallery’s programming for the day, and felt it was important to put on something meaningful—an event rooted in collaboration between diaspora creatives and homegrown talent,” he concluded.
